Claude for Nonprofits in Malaysia: Who Qualifies and How to Apply

Updated 28 October 2026

Many Malaysian NGOs, foundations and schools want to use AI, but a full price for each staff member is too high for a small budget. Anthropic now gives a nonprofit price for Claude Team. This guide shows who can apply, the prices, the steps, what to prepare and the data rules. We wrote it before GivingTuesday on 1 December 2026, a good date to plan the next year.

This guide uses the claude.com pages on 28 October 2026. Anthropic can change its prices and rules, so check the page on the day that you apply.

Who can apply

The Claude for Nonprofits page lists these types of organisations:

  • Registered nonprofits. These are 501(c)(3) organisations in the United States and their international equivalents.
  • K-12 schools. Public and private schools are both on the list.
  • Some healthcare providers. These are mission-based types in the United States, for example Federally Qualified Health Centers and Rural Health Clinics.

Malaysia has no 501(c)(3) status, so you apply as an international equivalent. These are the usual Malaysian equivalents:

  • A society registered with the Registrar of Societies (ROS, or JPPM).
  • A company limited by guarantee (CLBG) registered with SSM.
  • A charitable trust.
  • A zakat or welfare body that is registered as a nonprofit.
  • A government school, or a private or international school that is not-for-profit.

Goodstack, Anthropic’s verification partner, decides what it accepts. We cannot promise that your organisation will get approval.

The page does not list universities. Universities have Claude for Education, and Anthropic has a separate programme for scientists at academic and nonprofit research institutions.

The prices

The nonprofit price is for the Team plan, for 2 to 150 users. This table compares it with the normal Team prices on claude.com on 28 October 2026:

PlanPrice per user a month
Nonprofit standardUSD 8
Nonprofit access (low- and middle-income countries)USD 3
Team Standard seat, normal priceUSD 25 billed monthly, or USD 20 billed annually
Team Premium seat, normal priceUSD 125 billed monthly, or USD 100 billed annually

The prices do not include tax. For example, 10 users at USD 8 cost USD 960 a year. The same 10 users on the normal Standard seat cost USD 2,400 a year, billed annually.

Anthropic links the USD 3 price to the World Bank country groups. Malaysia is in the upper-middle-income group, and the page lists no countries. Do not plan your budget on USD 3. Goodstack checks your organisation, and you see your price after the check.

Verified nonprofits also get the Claude for Nonprofits plugin, with 14 skills for tasks such as fundraising and marketing. Free courses for nonprofits are on Claude Academy.

What to prepare

Get these items ready before you start:

  • Your registration certificate, for example the ROS certificate, the SSM documents for a CLBG, the trust deed or the school registration.
  • The legal name and the registration number of the organisation.
  • A work email address on your organisation’s own domain. You need it later to verify the domain.
  • The name of the person who will be the owner of the Claude organisation.
  • The number of users. The Team plan needs 2 users minimum.

Make sure that the name on the certificate is the same as the name on your application.

How to apply

Do these steps in sequence:

  1. Open the Claude for Nonprofits page at claude.com/solutions/nonprofits.
  2. Select the Team plan, and start the Goodstack verification.
  3. Enter the details that Goodstack asks for.
  4. Upload your registration certificate if Goodstack asks for it.
  5. Wait for the result. Anthropic says that the check takes about 2 to 3 minutes.
  6. Open the email from Anthropic after the approval.
  7. Finish the setup. The discount is already in the price.
  8. Add your users.

If Goodstack does not approve your organisation, do not buy seats at the normal price immediately. Find out why first. A different document or a correct name can be sufficient.

What Claude can do for a nonprofit

Claude is good with long documents and careful drafts. These are useful tasks for a small team:

  • Donor reports. Claude makes a first draft from your notes and figures.
  • Grant proposals. Give Claude the funder’s guideline, and it drafts each section to that format.
  • Newsletters. It writes in Bahasa Melayu and English for the same issue.
  • Translation. It translates letters and notices between Malay and English.
  • Meeting notes. It makes a short summary with the actions and the names of the people who must do them.
  • School materials. Teachers can make a first draft of worksheets and lesson notes.

Claude can make mistakes. A staff member must check each fact, figure and name before a document goes out. Our guide for government agencies shows a test of Claude in formal Malay.

Data rules

Nonprofits often keep data about people who need help. This data needs care:

  • Do not put personal data of beneficiaries in Claude without a lawful basis. This includes asnaf, patients, students and their families. Follow the PDPA 2010 and your own data policy.
  • Remove names and identity numbers first. Use sample details, or remove the personal data before you upload a file.
  • Use work accounts only. Do not let staff use a personal Claude account for the organisation’s work.
  • Government schools. Also follow the data and ICT rules of your ministry.

On the Team plan, Anthropic does not train its models on your chats by default. If a user sends feedback, Anthropic can use that chat. The owner can turn off the “Rate chats” option.

Team or Enterprise?

Most nonprofits start on Team. It is for 2 to 150 users, and it has single sign-on (SSO), domain verification and admin controls. It does not have audit logs or SCIM.

Enterprise adds these controls. On the normal price list, it needs 20 seats minimum, and usage is charged at API rates. A nonprofit that wants Enterprise, or has more than 150 users, talks to Anthropic’s nonprofit sales team. That team checks the organisation during the sales process.

How we can help

Web Impian Sdn. Bhd. is working toward a partnership with Anthropic. We do not sell the nonprofit seats. You buy them directly from Anthropic after the Goodstack check. Our help is a separate service, and you can use only the parts that you need:

  • The application. We help you prepare the documents for the Goodstack check.
  • The setup. We set up the Claude organisation, verify your domain and connect SSO with Google Workspace.
  • Training. We train your staff in Bahasa Melayu or English, with tasks from your own work.

Frequently asked questions

1Do nonprofits in Malaysia get the USD 3 price?

We cannot promise it. The USD 3 price is for nonprofits in low- and middle-income countries, and Anthropic uses the World Bank groups. Malaysia is in the upper-middle-income group. The page does not list the countries. Goodstack checks your organisation, and you see your price after the check.

2Can a society registered with ROS apply?

Yes, it can apply. Anthropic accepts registered 501(c)(3) organisations and their international equivalents. In Malaysia, a society with ROS (JPPM), a company limited by guarantee with SSM or a charitable trust can be an equivalent. Goodstack makes the decision, so we cannot promise approval.

3Can a university get the nonprofit price?

The nonprofit page does not list universities. It lists registered nonprofits, K-12 schools and some healthcare providers. Universities have Claude for Education. Researchers at academic and nonprofit research institutions have a separate programme. Ask Anthropic which plan fits your university.

4Does Web Impian sell the nonprofit seats?

No. You buy the nonprofit seats directly from Anthropic after the Goodstack check. Web Impian does not resell them, and the discount does not come through us. We can help with the paperwork and the setup, and train your staff. That help is a separate service.

5Does Anthropic use our chats to train its models?

Not by default. Anthropic does not train its models on the inputs and outputs of its commercial plans, which include Team. If a user sends feedback, for example a thumbs up or down, Anthropic can use that chat. An owner can turn off the "Rate chats" option for the organisation.
